Republic of Doyle – Jan 2016

The place was blocked! On January 24th, Atlantic Voices presented classic Newfoundland tunes first made popular through the Doyle songbooks in Republic of (Gerald) Doyle: Old-time Songs of Newfoundland.near sell out of almost 600 people enjoyed songs like Let Me Fish Off Cape St. Mary’sSquid-Jigging Ground, and We’ll Rant and We’ll Roar as arranged by some of this country’s finest choral composers. The concert included rousing sing-a-longs of I’se the Bye and, as a tribute to Ron Hynes, Sonny’s Dream.

As usual, The Fumblin’ Fingers got the afternoon off to a roaring start getting the crowd warmed up on a blustery winter’s day. Our usual tea included plenty of homemade goodies and treats and our silent auction had plenty of interesting items.

Thank you to all who attended and to all the volunteers who helped make the day such a huge success.
