Not Just a Pretty Face

Margaree is the fourth Newfoundland Dog mascot of Atlantic Voices since Spring 2003. Margaree follows in the footsteps of Bonavista, Atlantiika, and Splash. Margaree has been awarded the title of Champion (CH) by the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and the title Ultimate Newfoundland Dog by the Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada because she has earned Canadian and American titles in Obedience (CD), Draft Work (DDX, TDDX), Rally Obedience (RN), Tricks (TKI), and is a Canine Good Neighbour (CGN).

Margaree was born 24 April 2016. As is common of her breed, Margaree loves people, especially children, and is very gentle. Like many of the Atlantic Voices choir members, Margaree’s genes go back to the island of Newfoundland. Her ancestors loved the sea and the people of the island.

These strong water dogs were loyal and loving companions who worked very hard on shore and at sea. They pulled in fishing nets, delivered mail, and hauled logs from the forests. They often served as ‘living lifelines’, rescuing people from the sea.

Margaree is proud to be Atlantic Voices’ mascot and hopes that you will love the music as much as she does!

Mascot in Training

Nautica’s Unsinkable Cassie Brown

Cassie is our mascot in training, learning how to be a good advocate for her Newfoundland Dog breed, and how to impress the public at Atlantic Voices events. She was born 5 December 2024, so is still very young and learning the ropes.

Cassie is named after the Newfoundland author, Cassie Brown, called “unsinkable” in an Atlantic Insight article in 1980 because of her indomitable spirit! Our young mascot in training is already showing to be of a similar spirit. By 8 months of age Cassie was able to do all five of the Junior Water Rescue Dog exercises in training sessions.

Hopefully Cassie will be earning titles like her mentor, Margaree, by next summer!
