When to Apply

Atlantic Voices accepts new members in September and February, at the start of each concert cycle. If you are interested in information about joining, please contact us to be notified in advance when space becomes available.

Requirements

We are an unauditioned community choir, so no audition or ability to read music is necessary to join. You don’t need to know whether you are a Tenor or a Bass, or even have a connection to the Atlantic provinces. All you need is a desire to sing and a love for music from the East Coast!

We expect members to commit to attend Tuesday night practices and two major concerts a year, one at the end of January and one at the end of May. We also typicallly sing at the National War Memorial on July 1st, to honour the Battle of Beaumont Hamel. Depending on the year, we may also perform at a local fundraising concert or sing at retirement homes.

Rehearsals & Dues

Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at Riverside United Church, 3191 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, Ontario on Riverside Drive just south of Walkley Road. There is ample free parking available.

Our choir year is organized into two sessions: starting early September to prepare for a concert at the end of January, and early February to prepare for a concert at the end of May. Membership dues are $200 per year and should be paid to the Treasurer on or before the first September rehearsal. If necessary, dues can be paid in installments ($100 in Sept and $100 in Jan).
